There are more kilometres of tunnels inside the Rock of Gibraltar than there are kilometres of road outside!
The Great Siege Tunnels take us back to 1783 when they were built by the forefathers of the Royal Engineers. They were built by hand using just crowbars and were completed in just one year. The sole purpose of building these tunnels was to transport a canon to a ledge in order to destroy the Spanish Fortifications as and when they were being built
